Como un laboratorio para conocer y vivir la vida laboral, con sus problemas y soluciones reales, un grupo de estudiantes del Programa Profesional en Gestión de la Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo, del TdeA Institución Universitaria, realizaron una visita académica a la empresa Kimberly Clark Colombia.
Este grupo de alumnos acudió a este encuentro con el fin de conocer los procesos de producción de la organización y profundizar en lo que respecta al sistema de gestión en SST, favoreciendo el acercamiento con las realidades en el ámbito industrial que completan el desarrollo de las competencias y resultados de aprendizaje inherentes al perfil de formación. En la jornada se evidenció la aplicación de los conceptos teóricos vistos en el aula.
“El objetivo se planteó para que los estudiantes se aproximaran mucho más a la realidad, proyectaran el desarrollo de su carrera y pudieran interactuar con situaciones del mundo real, se conectaran con una empresa que tiene procesos muy adecuados y óptimos, entender que existe un sistema de gestión y aprender cómo se implementa. Pero, sobre todo, pienso que es abrirles la mente a los muchachos para que entiendan que estos escenarios son donde trabajarán, son el perfecto complemento para su formación académica, y poderse proyectar a lo práctico”, señaló el docente Héctor Iván Duque Herrera, a cargo de la iniciativa.
La Facultad de Derecho y Ciencias Forenses alienta experiencias como esta para la integración con el sector empresarial, que nutre la formación de los estudiantes y los anima a mantener la persistencia en sus estudios. Para este docente, permanencia y motivación son dos palabras que deben estar siempre juntas, son este tipo de prácticas las que facilitan que su propósito en común se cumpla, con acciones como el solo hecho de mostrar en una empresa las dinámicas, las tareas, lo real de ejercer una carrera.
El profesor Duque Herrera, hizo hincapié en que los profesionales que recibieron a los jóvenes señalaron algo que él siempre repite en clase, si bien el conocimiento es la base del quehacer en la materia, obviamente, el saberlo aplicar para resolver situaciones en el mundo empresarial es igual de importante.
Agrega que también la visita fue una oportunidad par trabajar el tema de tolerancia a la frustración en estos entornos, pues en la mayor parte de las ocasiones los estudiantes llegan a un centro de práctica y se derriban ante las negativas para ejecutar alguna idea que se atreven a formular. “Es importante que desarrollen esas habilidades blandas desde semestres tempranos”, indica el profe.
El 11 de septiembre, la actividad comenzó a las 8:30 de la mañana cuando ingresaron a la planta y se programó su final para las 12:00 del mediodía. Pero había tanta emoción e interés en el ambiente, que la misma empresa les dio una hora más de charla. “Quedaron muy contentos, les gustó mucho, quieren continuar haciendo estas visitas en empresas de otros sectores económicos. Qué bueno seguir incentivando estas visitas, son una oportunidad para crear sentido de pertenencia con la universidad, entender que existe un mundo fuera de las aulas para complementar la formación. El mejor laboratorio es el mundo real”, puntualizó el profesor.
Occupational Health and Safety Students Approaching the Corporate World
As a laboratory to learn about and experience working life, with its real problems and solutions, a group of students from the Professional Program in Occupational Health and Safety Management, from the TdeA University Institution, made an academic visit to the company Kimberly Clark Colombia.
This group of students attended this meeting to learn about the production processes of the organization and to deepen what is related to the SST management system, favoring the approach with the realities in the industrial field that complete the development of the competencies and learning outcomes inherent to the training profile. During the day, the application of the theoretical concepts seen in the classroom was evidenced.
"The objective was set so that students could get much closer to reality, project the development of their career and be able to interact with real-world situations, connect with a company that has very adequate and optimal processes, understand that there is a management system and learn how it is implemented. But, above all, I think it is to open the minds of the children so that they understand that these scenarios are where they will work, they are the perfect complement for their academic training, and to be able to project themselves to the practical," said teacher Héctor Iván Duque Herrera, in charge of the initiative.
The School of Law and Forensic Sciences encourages experiences like this for integration with the business sector, which nurtures the training of students and encourages them to maintain persistence in their studies. For this teacher, permanence and motivation are two words that must always be together, it is this type of practice that facilitates their common purpose to be fulfilled, with actions such as the mere fact of showing in a company the dynamics, the tasks, the reality of exercising a career.
Professor Duque Herrera emphasized that the professionals who received the young people pointed out something that he always repeats in class, although knowledge is the basis of the work in the subject, obviously, knowing how to apply it to solve situations in the business world is just as important.
He adds that the visit was also an opportunity to work on the issue of tolerance to frustration in these environments, since on most occasions students arrive at a practice center and are demolished by the refusals to execute an idea that they dare to formulate. "It is important that they develop these soft skills from early semesters," says the teacher.
On September 11, the activity began at 8:30 a.m. when they entered the plant and its end was scheduled for 12:00 noon. But there was so much excitement and interest in the air, that the company itself gave them an extra hour of talk. "They were very happy, they liked it very much, they want to continue making these visits in companies from other economic sectors. How good to continue encouraging these visits, they are an opportunity to create a sense of belonging to the university, to understand that there is a world outside the classroom to complement training. The best laboratory is the real world," said the professor.
