En esta conmemoración de 42 años de vida académica, recordamos con gratitud nuestros inicios. A lo largo de las décadas, muchas mujeres han sido fundamentales en la construcción de este proyecto educativo, por lo que el acto de Reconocimiento Ser Mujer TdeA se lleva a cabo para exaltar a aquellas que han transformado nuestra institución desde diversos ámbitos.
En esta ocasión, se rindieron homenajes a siete mujeres inspiradoras. La primera de ellas fue Natalia Morales Castaño, estudiante de octavo semestre de Trabajo Social y madre de Samuel, Agustín y José Miguel. Sus hijos han sido la motivación que la impulsó a trabajar incansablemente por el bienestar de la infancia con autismo. Desde hace 13 años, lidera la Fundación Potencialización, creada para acompañar y asesorar a familias con niños en el espectro autista.
“Soy Natalia Morales Castaño, tengo 36 años, curso el octavo semestre de Trabajo Social y soy madre de tres hijos con autismo. Esta ha sido mi mayor motivación para fundar una organización que elimine barreras en educación y salud. En Medellín, impulsé el Acuerdo 098, que garantiza una atención de calidad para niños autistas desde la infancia hasta la adultez. Actualmente, trabajo en una política pública sobre autismo en el Senado, cuyo segundo foro de aprobación se llevará a cabo el 3 de abril”, expresó Natalia.
Otra homenajeada fue Llinet Marcela Serna González, destacada en ciencia y academia. Durante el 2024, su labor investigativa resultó en la publicación de importantes artículos y el libro Plantas y Etnobotánica en Dabeiba y Mutatá, el cual recoge conocimientos académicos y los saberes ancestrales de la comunidad.
En la categoría Mujer Talento, se reconoció a Hary Nicol Riaño, estudiante de cuarto semestre de Derecho, por su dedicación al arte escénico. Integrante del Grupo Institucional de Proyección de Teatro, ganó el Premio ASCUN Regional 2024 y alcanzó la final del ASCUN Nacional con su dramaturgia. Además, su compromiso con la equidad de género se refleja en su participación en la Mesa Institucional de Género y Diversidades Sexuales.
Por su liderazgo en el trabajo con comunidades diversas, fue exaltada Lena Paola Silgado, estudiante de Trabajo Social, quien ha destacado en procesos estudiantiles con enfoque étnico e intercultural en el TdeA.
En la categoría Aportes a la Gestión y el Servicio, se reconoció a Ángela María Atehortúa García por su calidad humana, compromiso con la integridad y contribución al servicio público.
Como líder en gestión emprendedora y educación, se homenajeó a Sandra Calle Giraldo, egresada de la Licenciatura en Básica Primaria, con énfasis en Ciencias Naturales y Educación Ambiental. Su trayectoria destaca por su compromiso con procesos pedagógicos y sociales.
Finalmente, en la categoría Mujer en las Letras, se otorgó un reconocimiento especial a la profesora Lucila González de Chávez, recordada por su trayectoria como educadora, escritora y periodista experta en gramática y ortografía. Su labor ha sido reconocida a nivel departamental y nacional por su contribución a la literatura y la educación. En su nombre, recibieron la distinción sus hijos, Ana Chávez González y Juan David Chávez González. “Este reconocimiento nos llena de orgullo. Es gratificante ver cómo a través del tiempo se ha valorado la labor de mi madre”, expresó Juan David.
En palabras del Rector
El rector Leonardo García Botero enfatizó que las mujeres han sido agentes de cambio, desafiando estereotipos y conquistando espacios. Marzo es un mes para reflexionar sobre la marginación, la injusticia y la violencia de género. “Hoy tenemos la responsabilidad de seguir trabajando por la equidad y la justicia. Nuestra propuesta educativa es diferencial porque comprende la diversidad humana y las realidades de nuestra sociedad. Nos fortalecemos en una estrategia de unidad que valora lo individual para construir lo colectivo”, destacó.
Asimismo, expresó su gratitud a las estudiantes, empleadas, colaboradoras y docentes que han hecho posible la historia del TdeA.
También agradeció a los amigos que han sido parte fundamental de este proceso: Olga Osorio de Cuervo, Nelson Ceballos, Vilma Amparo Alzate, Teresa Guerra Serna, Gloria Herrera Sánchez, Jorge Iván García Uribe, Gilma Morales, Dolly López Osorio, Luis Carlos Muñoz, Edgar Arrubla y Luz María Tobón.
Con amigos, reconocimientos y gratitud, el TdeA celebró sus 42 años de vida académica, reafirmando su compromiso con la construcción de una sociedad más equitativa y próspera.
We Celebrated 42 Years of Our TdeA’s Heart
On this commemoration of 42 years of academic life, we gratefully remember our beginnings. Over the decades, many women have been fundamental in the construction of this educational project, which is why the “Ser Mujer TdeA” (Being a TdeA Women) Recognition event is held to honor those who have transformed our institution from various fields.
On this occasion, tributes were paid to seven inspiring women. The first of them was Natalia Morales Castaño, an eighth-semester Social Work student and mother of Samuel, Agustín, and José Miguel. Her children have been the motivation that drove her to work tirelessly for the well-being of children with autism. For the past 13 years, she has been leading the Potencialización Foundation, created to support and advise families with children on the autism spectrum.
I am Natalia Morales Castaño, I am 36 years old, I am in the eighth semester of Social Work, and I am the mother of three children with autism. This has been my greatest motivation to found an organization that eliminates barriers in education and health. In Medellín, I promoted Agreement 098, which guarantees quality care for autistic children from childhood to adulthood. Currently, I am working on a public policy on autism in the Senate, whose second approval forum will take place on April 3," expressed Natalia.
Another honoree was Llinet Marcela Serna González, distinguished in science and academia. During 2024, her research work resulted in the publication of important articles and the book "Plants and Ethnobotany in Dabeiba and Mutatá," which gathers academic knowledge and the ancestral wisdom of the community.
In the “Mujer Talento” (Woman Talent) category, Hary Nicol Riaño, a fourth-semester Law student, was recognized for her dedication to the performing arts. Member of the Institutional Theater Projection Group, she won the ASCUN Regional Award 2024 and reached the finals of the ASCUN National with her dramaturgy. Additionally, their commitment to gender equity is reflected in their participation in the Institutional Table on Gender and Sexual Diversities.
For her leadership in working with diverse communities, Lena Paola Silgado, a Social Work student, was honored for her outstanding contributions to student processes with an ethnic and intercultural focus at TdeA.
In the category of “Aportes a la Gestión y el Servicio” (Contributions to Management and Service), Ángela María Atehortúa García was recognized for her human quality, commitment to integrity, and contribution to public service.
As a leader in entrepreneurial management and education, Sandra Calle Giraldo, a graduate of the Bachelor's Degree in Primary Education with an emphasis on Natural Sciences and Environmental Education, was honored. Her career stands out for her commitment to pedagogical and social processes.
Finally, in the category of “Mujer en las letras” (Woman Writer), a special recognition was awarded to Professor Lucila González de Chávez, remembered for her career as an educator, writer, and journalist expert in grammar and spelling. Her work has been recognized at both the departmental and national levels for her contribution to literature and education. In her name, the distinction was received by her children, Ana Chávez González and Juan David Chávez González. "This recognition fills us with pride." "It is gratifying to see how over time my mother's work has been valued," expressed Juan David.
In the words of our President
TdeA’s president, Leonardo García Botero, emphasized that women have been agents of change, challenging stereotypes and conquering spaces. March is a month to reflect on marginalization, injustice, and gender violence. "Today we have the responsibility to continue working for equity and justice." Our educational proposal is distinctive because it understands human diversity and the realities of our society. We strengthen ourselves with a strategy of unity that values the individual to build the collective," he emphasized.
Likewise, he expressed his gratitude to the students, employees, collaborators, and teachers who have made the history of TdeA possible.
