Un sueño compartido: concejales de Itagüí conocieron avance del campus TdeA Aburrá Sur
- Rector, Leonardo García Botero, socializó las características de la nueva sede del TdeA al Concejo en pleno de Itagüí.
- Los corporados expresaron su satisfacción con las especificaciones técnicas y espacios del proyecto, que a la fecha registra un avance de obra del 97 %.
- Se espera que las actividades académicas en el campus universitario inicien durante el segundo semestre de 2025.
Con motivo de una sesión descentralizada, los 17 corporados del Concejo de Itagüí se reunieron este martes, 22 de abril, en las nuevas instalaciones del TdeA Aburrá Sur, ubicada en el sector Ditaires de ese municipio. La comitiva estuvo encabeza por la mesa directiva de la corporación, integrada por Cristian Osorio Agudelo, presidente; Elkin Zuleta Estrada, vicepresidente primero; y María Angélica Gaviria, vicepresidenta segunda. El personero de la localidad, John Fredy Ortiz Tabares, acompañó la visita de los concejales.
El rector la institución universitaria, Leonardo García Botero, recibió la delegación itagüiseña en uno de los salones de la nueva sede académica. El directivo, les explicó a los visitantes las características de la edificación, comodidades, equipamiento deportivo y componentes tecnológicos.
“Este es un sueño compartido. Es un privilegio tener a los honorables concejales en nuestras instalaciones. También nos gustó mucho que haya venido el personero de Itagüí con quien asumimos algunas acciones para proteger el humedal que tenemos en este campus y que hace parte de la reserva natural Ditaires, un santuario de fauna y flora”, destacó el rector.
Tras recorrer la estructura, conformada por siete pisos, terraza, dos niveles subterráneos, parqueaderos, placa polideportiva y una piscina semiolímpica, los corporados expresaron su satisfacción ante la inminente apertura de actividades académicas del campus universitario.
“Quedamos muy complacidos al ver que este sueño ya es una realidad. Pensar que posiblemente en el segundo semestre tendremos estudiantes acá constituye para nuestro municipio un inmenso orgullo, que se extiende a todo el territorio del Aburrá Sur”, resaltó Cristian Osorio Agudelo, presidente del Concejo de Itagüí.
“Me siento orgulloso que el TdeA esté en nuestro municipio, que puedan brindar más oportunidades con educación superior de calidad nacional e internacional”, indicó el vicepresidente primero del Concejo. Elkin Zuleta. Por su parte, la vicepresidenta segunda, egresada de la institución, María Angélica Gaviria, dijo: “Tendremos más de 65 espacios donde podremos interactuar. Una gran noticia para nuestra comunidad”.
La nueva sede, con un área total de 13.876 metros cuadrados, estará equipada con 64 aulas de clase, cuatro laboratorios, zonas de estudio, seis salas de sistemas, tres ascensores panorámicos, placa polideportiva, gimnasio y piscina; además, se resaltan las condiciones de accesibilidad y las zonas verdes del campus.
“Nos deja una impresión muy positiva. Estamos a punto que se cumpla un anhelo para la educación superior de los itagüiseños. Para la comunidad del municipio representa un privilegio que una institución tan prestante y con tan variada oferta académica llegue al territorio de manera presencial y también con programas virtuales”, destacó John Fredy Ortiz Tabares, personero de Itagüí.
Al recorrido también asistió Jonathan Bean Mosquera, director de Planeación de la institución, quien en diferentes momentos compartió aspectos de la obra a los concejales del municipio de Itagüí. A la fecha, el campus universitario del TdeA Aburrá Sur, contemplado en el Plan de Desarrollo Ser, hacer, trascender 2022-2026, presenta un avance del 97 %. Para la construcción del proyecto se destinaron más de 30.100 millones de pesos.
El nuevo campus universitario del TdeA albergará a 5.000 estudiantes del municipio de Itagüí y demás localidades del Aburrá Sur y suroeste antioqueño.
A Shared Dream: Itagüí Councilors Learned About the Progress of the TdeA Aburrá Sur Campus

On the occasion of a decentralized session, the 17 members of the Itagüí Council met this Tuesday, April 22, in the new facilities of TdeA Aburrá Sur, located in the Ditaires sector of that municipality. The delegation was headed by the board of directors of the corporation, composed of Cristian Osorio Agudelo, president; Elkin Zuleta Estrada, first vise president; and María Angélica Gaviria, second vise president. The local ombudsman, John Fredy Ortiz Tabares, accompanied the councilors' visit.
The president of the university, Leonardo García Botero, received the Itagüí delegation in one of the halls of the new academic headquarters. The director explained to the visitors the characteristics of the building, amenities, sports equipment, and technological components.
"This is a shared dream." It is a privilege to have the honorable councilors in our facilities. We also really appreciated that the ombudsman of Itagüí came, with whom we undertook some actions to protect the wetland we have on this campus, which is part of the Ditaires natural reserve, a sanctuary of fauna and flora," highlighted the President.
After touring the structure, which consists of seven floors, a terrace, two underground levels, parking lots, a multipurpose sports court, and a semi-Olympic pool, the board members expressed their satisfaction with the imminent opening of academic activities at the university campus.
"We are very pleased to see that this dream is now a reality." Thinking that possibly in the second semester we will have students here constitutes an immense pride for our municipality, which extends to the entire Aburrá Sur territory,” emphasized Cristian Osorio Agudelo, president of the Itagüí Council.

Jonathan Bean Mosquera, the institution's Planning Director, also attended the tour, during which he shared various aspects of the project with the councilors of the municipality of Itagüí at different times. To date, the TdeA Aburrá Sur university campus, included in the Development Plan Be, Do, Transcend 2022-2026, shows a 97% progress. More than 30.1 billion pesos were allocated for the construction of the project.
The new university campus of TdeA will accommodate 5,000 students from the municipality of Itagüí and other localities in Aburrá Sur and southwestern Antioquia.
